About Mediamap News Network

Introduction

The Media Map website is a bilingual hub for quality media content. It aims to reach socially conscious citizens from different sectors, including government, academia, the judiciary, diplomacy, public policy, science and technology, social work, and the media. These individuals care about the state of our politics, society, and economy.  fields can come together to discuss and address pressing issues affecting our society and economy.

The Objective

Media Map aims to prepare current and future media audiences to face the new challenges posed by a technology-driven ecosystem. This goal could be achieved by creating a top-notch media facility that considers the latest trends and activities in our changing society.

The Media Scenario

The press in a democracy is known as the Fourth Estate and has various roles in different situations. This range of roles and the diverse expectations of the public in a diverse democracy require a media that is both dynamic and socially aware, reflecting our cultural heritage.

Good journalism has traditionally been defined by three words: Free, Frank, and Fearless. For a long time, news was written and edited by honest and dedicated journalists who adhered to these three principles. However, as the credibility of news media has plummeted, the meaning of these three words has shifted.

Now, they represent Fake, Favorite, and Frivolous. All three pose serious threats to journalism. Fake news spreads misinformation, while favoritism undermines objectivity, which is the essence of news and reliable information. Frivolous news drives away thoughtful audiences, compromising the quality of media viewers. This is a significant challenge to the efforts of fostering an informed public opinion that is essential for good governance in a society where many are striving to overcome ignorance, illiteracy, and backwardness.

The Basic Issue

The professional education in India has not significantly benefited our society socially and culturally. As a result, we have many skilled professionals who lack an understanding of social realities and the broader issues facing our community. Their ignorance and insensitivity to matters that are crucial to the public are evident and don’t need further explanation.

Most of the capable professionals in our society are neutral when it comes to values. Our focus is on the principles of liberal democracy, which essentially include social justice, equality before the law, secular beliefs, constitutional governance, inclusive economic growth, and a scientific mindset. To evolve into a modern nation, we must strengthen our democratic structure and build our narrative around Gandhian philosophy of “Antyodaya Se Sarvodaya.”

Our Vision

The Media Map aims to be a source of ideas and concepts that help us become better human beings. It promotes a broad vision, an open mindset, and a humanitarian approach, along with a commitment to liberal democracy. These personal qualities are reflected in our political culture and social values, and they are clearly stated in our Constitution.

A vibrant democracy requires not only freedom of expression but also informed public discussions that focus on issues benefiting the broader population. The Media Map seeks to create a strong environment for understanding the full range of social functions, processes, and issues. This understanding will support the growth and development of our society in a way that serves the best interests of our country.

It will work to prepare future generations who will stand firmly against feudalism, revivalism, anti-poor policies, and authoritarian trends in our society and politics.

Mission Statement

Media Map is a small but dedicated effort aimed at serious and objective writing in media. Our goal is to strengthen a culture of informed, rational, and intelligent debate on public policy issues in our society. We believe this is crucial for the well-being of our people and the rapid development of our country.

It aims to encourage discussions about ethical and moral questions in the media, particularly in news and social platforms. It serves as a space for various perspectives and ideas. It targets both practitioners and audiences who view media as a resource for development and social education, rather than just entertainment

Treasure Trove

The Media Map website aims to be a valuable resource for quality media articles on various ongoing topics. It caters to readers who seek thought-provoking content.

Media Think Tank

Unlike other fields, media is dynamic and constantly changing as it reflects society. This necessitates an ongoing discussion about important issues in this area. Therefore, we have created The Media Map.

The website will also serve as a media think tank. We hope that its discussions will offer valuable insights to improve our governance, which currently lacks a system or source for independent and unbiased policy suggestions.

The vested interests in bureaucracy and the corporate world provide inputs that benefit themselves rather than the average person. An independent think tank focused on socio-economic issues is needed to provide the right advice to administrators and influence government policy for the benefit of the public.
